Earlier today, I was visiting a friend, and his girlfriend from high school, who is a police officer for a local department San Luis Obispo County dropped by. He mentioned that the county is currently in the planning stages of building a countywide digitally trunked radio system for all first responders. Does anyone know what kind of system they are looking at purchasing, and what frequency band it will be on?

No such plans that I know of, and I'm pretty sure I'd know.

What agency did your friend work for, Ron?

Ive heard from a Deputy that they are moving to what he called a "trunked" system, but it was more in the context of "Damn I cant wait until we finally move over to a trunked system and the citizens cant hear us ***** on talkaround!" LOL.

Theres talk, people talk.... nothing firm that I know of. It seems as if San Luis City is trying to play with digital and its failing miserably.

So Im confused, was she on vacation out there, or do you live here in SLO now?

Either way - there are only a few female officers on with SLOPD but they are all great people, Im sure you got an earful about their radios LOL :D
