Question CHP SLO White-2 / Blue-2

Just had a conversation with a CHP officer who confirmed that CHP SLO has, in fact, made the cut over to the new White-2 & Blue-2. He said they were working well, as well as the new extenders. (Although the officers were still figuring out the new portables). However, he had no clue as what the new freqs were. I'm not copying any traffic on the previously published freqs for those two channels. Anyone have any ideas? Btw, the freqs I had were: White-2 Mobile: 42.48 / Base: 44.80, Blue-2 Mobile: 42.20 / Base: 44.92. TIA

Try these:

44.88 Mhz Possibly Green but may be White -2
44.80 Possibly White-2
45.28 Possibly Lime or White-2
44.92 Blue-2?
44.66 Blue-2?

Try searching the PL tones because so many have been changed from the original plan. Also, so many frequencies have been changed or renamed it is difficult to know the final assignment. Please let me know what you hear.

You sure they weren't doing radio checks on white2? I know Santa Cruz CHP does Radio checks on grn2 from time to time.

Default CHP SLO White-2/Blue-2

I haven't come across anything new so far. Even did a nearly 6 hour long limit searh from 44.00 to 45.98 MHz. No joy. A couple of days before I had the conversation with the CHP officer, I asked the same question of a PSCO tech who was stripping out a patrol car at the facility I work at Got the saame answer, cut- over complete. However, I got interrupted before I could ask the magic question, (freq s, & tones). I'm still hearing the original White pair loud & clear. Beats me.????

Ashgoo:

I've read in some forums some new channels are active only in portions of the total area covered by the channel; such as in the Redding area. Perhaps the area that is using the new White & Blue channel is out of range for you.

If you run into that CHP officer ask if he has had a new car issued, or his new radio was installed in an old car. It appears the transition to the new channels are done incrementally now, with the old cars keeping the old channels -- until those cars are retired. The new cars have new radios with the new channels programmed. This kind of simulcasting is present in several areas of the state right now.

Thanks for any info,

Mark

"...finally have simulcast the coastal black frequency..."

I'm not 100% familiar w/ the channel names? Is "Black" 42.460 Rptr PL 167.9 ? If so, the transmitter sites are: Anderson Peak, Big Sur & Little River Hill, Big Sur (for Monterey Cnty).

Thanks in advance.

Angry No Joy for CHP San Luis and Templeton Offices

Confirming what ashgoon said on the 13th Dec, I drove south from Paso Robles to Refugio Beach Exit just north of Santa Barbara monitoring the old white channels as well as the VHF extender frequency. There was light traffic on the extender, none at all on the white. This was Christmas Day. Returned home, and scanned from 42.00 to 45.00 over 8 hours. Heard not a single San Luis ID for the CHP. Antenna was a 42 mhz Whip up about 25 feet in the air. Has anyone been able to confirm the new frequencies? Heard one brief broadcast on the 700 mhz frequencies but it went by too fast for me to get the id. Meanwhile the newer cars seem to have no less than six different antennae on top. SLO office sargeant vehicle (SUV) still has prominent 42 mhz antenna on top, not much else. White undercover cars (the four of them) all are sprouting multiple verticals, short in size as well as lowband antenna. Any help would be appreciated.\

I been hearing white1 coming in real weak. Sounds like they are getting the newer channels going in each division for now till they get the new plan worked out.

ScnnerDude:

That's exactly what CHP is doing in other areas -- like Bakersfield, Coalinga & Hanford, Fresno, Fort Tejon & Buttonwillow, and other areas. Also, reports were heard of Bishop of simulcasting last week.

I do hear green2 from time to time and blue2 in Santa cruz/Hollister chp div. They also stop using repeat mode on black twice already I wonder if they are having problems or the dispatcher just turns it off.

From what I've heard the changeover will done in at least two steps; starting with simulcasting on the new frequency. The new cars will have new radios installed to operate on the new frequencies. When all the old cars are changed out the old channel will be abandonded.

As you can imagine, this coud take some time depending on the current life cycle status of the cars in each area.

Default CHP SLO White-2/ Blue-2

At this time. receviving Templeton AO unit 9-1-Adam running checks on car & driver less than a 1/2mile from my house loud & clear transmitting to SLO on 42.48. SLO transmitting on 42.56. Just fyi. Nothing heard on the old mobile freq of 42.72 or any "new" base freq".

BTW, the officer on the aforementioned stop was driving a regular old Crown Vic. The Officer I had talked to in my earlier post had mentioned that as the CVs wore out, they would be replaced by Ford Explorers in this area due to terrain and the fact that the other option (the Ford Taurus) just couldn't handle weight requirements, etc.
