Heard reference in last day or so to Channel 12. So, now have 2 unknowns: 11 & 12. :)

With channel numbers that high in the radio channel plan, those frequencies are probably mutual aid channels. Make sure you have the mutual aid frequencies for both the state and county plugged into your scanner. When you hear them switch to one of these channels make note of which mutual aid frequency they are talking on.

For state mutual aid channels check out the California OES (Office Of Emergency Services) page at Freq Of Nature and plug in the frequencies that are in the same band that Fresno Police use.

I'm not familiar with the Fresno Sheriff Department radio frequencies but if you have that information then plug in their frequencies in the same bank.

Some background information will help sleuth these frequencies. What type of incident were they on when they switched to these channels? Were they working with other public-safety agencies at the time? It's common for neigboring public-safety agencies to program each others frequencies in their radios for interoperability.

Channels 11 and 12 are simplex frequencies for Chs. 7 and 9 respectively. They are the only simplex frequencies that Fresno P.D. has, unfortunatley. You may sometimes, however rarely hear Narcotics Officers or Vice Officer refering to numerous other channels. They have their own and seperate radio system. If you hear an officer say go to Ch. 11, you may be able to hear them, or one of them, on Ch. 7. Same thing goes for Ch. 12. You may be able to hear on Ch. 9. They have to be close.
