Default Larsen NMO Antenna?

Hi all,

I've been using a K40 antenna on my car for the past couple months, which has worked just fine, but I am looking at taking advantage of a few trunk holes on my vehicle.

Does anyone have feedback on this Larsen CB antenna??

I'd rather have something like the Larsen fed through a trunk hole, instead of the K40 lip mount (or drilling a hole for the huge K40 base!)

Feedback appreciated. Cheers.

wilson 1000 and 5000 base loaded antenna's fit 3/4 inch mounting holes.

and they whip the crap out of K40 or Larsen.

get an older Uniden SSB Mobile from the 80's, K40 Spech Processing Mic, and a Wilson 5000 and you will have the best legal mobile CB setup available.

i use my wilson in mag mount config. i can only get an actual hard mount config could do better because you get a better ground on the antenna system.

I have a Larsen NMO-27B. I've used cheap CB antennas in the past, and I'm never going back. You can't beat a good commercial antenna.

Freqs - PM sent.

I think the K40 requires a 7/8" hole vs the 3/4" I have, but will see.

DigialD - I paid $100 for my K40, it was definitely more than the cheaper options (glass mount comes to mind). Performed great out of the box.

Thumbs up re;NMO 27B...

I would have to agree...that IF I was going to install another mob. ant. for 11meters,I would have to use a larsen instead of a run of the mill cb antenna.
Nothing beats commercial/mil spec.antennas! Although the last time I had a wilson ant. they did perform
quite well on 30-50mhz. and on 50-54mhz.

I have installed a few NMO-27B on trucks over the years and i have great feedback from the users. I own 2 wilson 1000's and will throw one on the roof everyonce in a while when i take along trip somewhere and the antenna still works great. As for the k40 i always thought it was a overpriced junk.

Still have my Larson antenna and the rectangular Larson Mag mount I bought at the same time back in 1982. A little TLC is all I've ever needed to get the antenna's vswr back down after it spends most of a year or two at a time stored in my garage. When it needs replaced, I'll be getting another one.
