Default Homebrew Andrew DB-408 Type antenna on 27mhz

anyone ever try to redesign an andrew db-404, db-408, or db-420 for 27 mhz?

DB404
GMRS Outlet LLC*::*Antennas*::*Fixed Antennas*::*Andrew DB404 UHF Dipole Antenna - 3.8dB

DB408
GMRS Outlet LLC*::*Antennas*::*Fixed Antennas*::*Andrew DB408 UHF Dipole Antenna - 6.6dB

DB420
GMRS Outlet LLC*::*Antennas*::*Fixed Antennas*::*Andrew DB420 UHF Dipole Antenna - 9.2dB

the 408 and 420 would probably be too large to be practical at 27mhz

but i'm interested in the results if anyone has ever tried this.

the advantages are decent gain, wide bandwidth vs. frequency, good swrs without need for tuner.

DB made a low-band (nicknamed a trombone) antenna utilizing the folded dipole elements; you could use 1, 2 or 4 elements. However, it had to be installed on the side of a tower with suitable vertical spacing. Thr size and spacing would preclude installation in a stand alone antenna.

In a nut shell, it ain't gonna happen. You could build such an antenna system from scratch but it's physical size alone precludes any practicality.
