Default Mounting problems

It seems it is hard to mount radios in newer cars due to all the plastic and the streamlining. I have a very small car, and don't really have a good spot in mine without damaging something. In my truck it is a lot easier to deal with. Does everyone has the same concerns as me when it comes to installing a radio in a newer small vehicle? Maybe I am just being to cautious. Is it possible to do a decent mount UNDER the seat or in the trunk. If this is possible, how do you change channels? Do they have CB's with detachable faces or controls on the mic like Ham Radios?

What kind of car?

Uniden makes the 510/520 that's small and Cobra makes a 19DXIV only slightly bigger. Both are much cheaper and durable than the 75WX ST and give you the option of changing out to a clearer microphone.

I used to have a Cobra 19, but now I've got a Cobra 29 in a MINI Cooper...

Obviously I don't need to make use of the back seat so this is a perfectly ok setup for me, I quickly learned where the different knobs where in relation to each other and I just let the mic rest under my ebrake handle between the seats while I'm on the highway. Saved me several hours of sitting in traffic on memorial day weekend.

Well a search for Camry on some of my other forums with CB sections yeilded this photo of an 08 Camry...

A search on here for similar sized scanner install proved unusually fruitless though.

Good news is that the Camry is generally very accepting of many types of antennas, which is generally the most important part of a good CB setup.

Thanks....it's in my FJ Cruiser now. Waiting on another frame rail mount to use as a test mule. Going to mod to position transceiver above console as it currently takes up too much passenger space.
