Default Which Radio Has The Big Built-in Linear???

My Uncle was telling me about some kind of radio that has a built-in 300 to 500 watt linear. Anyone have any details on anything like that?

Dude,

Thats not a CB. Its a 10 meter rig. You can't use that without a license. Its illegal. Get a ham license and you can use it on 10 meters.

.... even at that, without SSB capability its legal use is limited to 29.0 - 29.695 Mhz. USB only from 28.3-28.995 and below 28.3 is CW/data only.

Besides, possibly WAY overpowered. When the band is open one doesn't NEED 200-400 watts.

I was thinking the same thing. Basically as far as 10 meters, this rig would be close to useless. It's for sure marketed toward the CB crowd. As far as power goes, I recently got my ticket, and I can't believe all the power most people are running. It seems like almost everyone is running an amp.

400 watts on 10 is a little overkill. I have worked the world with 25 watts on 10 meters. I've never run over 100. I didn't realize it didn't do sideband. What a rip off. 10 meter FM is great but without sideband that just kills a lot of fun. I rarely hear anyone on AM anymore on 10.
