Default Dx 2547 disassembly question

DX 2547 DISASSEMBLY QUESTION
I must be the lucky one but a new DX 2547 purchased for me for Christmas has a paint chip about 1/4 inch in between the front glass and the meter front. Blocks seeing the meter. Don't want to send it back but would like to know if anyone removed the front plastic from the meter face. There is a seal on the radio that doesn't allow the top and bottom to separate as the seal breaking voids the warranty if broken so I want to carefully just move it back from the front cover to blow it out. Its probably being held in by static charge. It looks loosely sandwiched between both clear plastics. Any thoughts??? Thanks Ron

Don't take it apart, instead get a can of compressed air with a straw like those used to clean cpu fans on a computer tower and gently stick the straw in a vent where it would point toward the meter and give a few blasts.
That might dislodge it. If not, then try not to stress over a meter that doesn't do enough to worry about.

I moved the radio last night and its now the mark in a spot where the mark is not seen because you view the meter from the left. This puts the mark in the black color of the meter. I think a static remover would release it if I knew what was safe to use on the clear plastic. Thanks Ron

Ron, compressed air is all that's in the can. That's not going to hurt your plastic.

Just because it's commonly called canned air doesn't mean it's compressed air, if it were a can that small wouldn't last more than a couple of squirts. Chemically it's 1,1-difluoroethane, when used as a refrigerant it is often listed as R-152a.

Well, yeah but it's not likely to hurt anything other than acting like a can of component cooler to detect opens.
Now if you decide you want to try huffing ....D:

Without taking the radio and meter apart I don't know of any practical way of removing that 'spot'. If you got the radio new, and that 'spot' was there, then I would think that asking for a replacement would be at least one good option. No, not convenient, but still not unreasonable.
Even if you could disassemble the radio, some meters are just not made to be 'disassembled'. (No idea if yours is like that or not.) That means that getting that compressed air into the thing typically means modifying the meter. That will probably void any warranty. So, what do you think would be most reasonable/possible for you?
