Default Help with 23 channel radio

I have a Skyfon OM-423 23 channel CB radio. It powers on fine, but the receive audio is not good as well as the transmit audio. It almost sounds as the person I try to contact on another radio is not on the same channel. I have tested it several times and it still has the same problem.
I would like to fix the radio since it belonged to a relative of mine that recently passed away. I have a Midland in my car and I would like to use this radio as a base radio.
Any suggestions on what the problem would be would be greatly appreciated. I don't know much about crystals, but could they be the problems?
Thanks!

Crystals could very well be your problem, its a shot in the dark but look around on ebay or amazon for new crystals.

Electrolytic caps tend to dry out and might need replacing for radios this old. A realignment of the IF section would probably need some attention; and sometimes some bad solder joints might need to be touched up.

Default Thanks

Thank you both for the replies. I am going to see if I can fix it. Hopefully I can. Does anyone know if and where I could get the schematics for the radio? I have "Googled" it but I can't find it.

I would setup a search on EBay and have it email you when it finds something. I think that's your best bet.
