Default "Super Antron"

I was given the bottom section of an A-99,minus the threaded connection that the mid section bolts to.I have had a fiber-glass radome that a former VHF coaxial -collinear antenna used to be in.I soldered the 'mid, and top sections of #12 copper wire to the bottom section that I had.(that's all an A-99 is,on the two upper sections) I did some measuring, and, with some pipe insulation, slid onto the copper radial, about every foot,I came up with a Super-heavy-duty A-99.I centered the bottom section with some bolts to hold it into place, and, give it 'direct ground'.SWR is flat at 27.205Mhz.This one should last a few years.

I would be interested in knowing how you got a 'flat' SWR anywhere on the 11 meter band with an end fed 1/2 wave antenna with no matching device. What's the braid of the feed line connected to? Or is that 'rings' section inside that bottom pipe where the coax disappears?

Yes,you are right;LtDoc. That's what those series of bolts are.I left the matching section intact.Basically I just took a bottom section of an A-99,(minus the threaded connector,on the top of the bottom section).Soldered a measured length of copper wire, onto that bottom section, leaving the tuning rings intact.Slid all of the 'guts' into this radome, with some pieces of 'pipe insulation',to keep the wire 'centered',and,to keep it from 'banging around' inside the radome. Not a bad little project.
