    Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value.     The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

    For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

L-Bracket Mount for NMO CB Antenna?

I currently have a Uniden 505XL and a Wilson Lil Wil installed on my Crown Victoria and the reception is terrible 98% of the time. I am getting an SWR or 1.6 on 40 and 1.5 on 1 but 19/20 will be 1.1. The biggest issue is i can't get rid of extra white noise and when i hear someone it always has a lot of chatter. So i'm come to the realization that i need a taller antenna to be able to get a clear response.

I have had L-brackets installed on my car before for my scanner, but i removed the scanner and still have 3 mounting locations available in the trunk.

Do you think my reception would be much worse using a L bracket and NMO Mount antenna (Larsen NMO27) or would i be better off just buying a lip mount or another taller Magnet mount like the Wilson 1000 or 5000?
