There are a few people around. Many use Ch 27, Ch 14, Ch 6 and I think there is another Ch for that specific area which they use but cant recall.

Iíve had an ear out while I can. Thereís a couple locals ( one in cottage hills and the other in woodriver) talking on some base stations that I check in on. Usually there in the evening so if I wonder if my equipment is working Iíll just call out to them. Currently the cb has taken a back seat to my DD decided to show a hurt motor. Time to get the project truck running.

Totally understand about the project priorities. Yeah jump on one of the 3 channels I mentioned when you get a chance, I'd say mornings and evenings are best.

If I could get my new base working like it's supposed to, I should be able to almost reach you.

I run a 1/4 wave on a jeep. When barefoot I get about a 1.1:1 swr. With amp it hits about a 1.5:1-1.7:1. I was thinking about building a 1/4 wave on my roof and running a PSU for my cb in the house.

It depends on the day. There has been lots of skip coming in from South Carolina, Oklahoma and Texas the last few days.
I too enjoy using the scanner with a Cb antenna on search mode.

I'm up by Chicago and the Tollways, even with that, there's still a lot of Truck drivers pointing out Police radar and other fun. Some days I don't even listen to the Police, just IDOT - ITHA Help Trucks and CB calls as they see all the problems before the Police out there.
