Did some digging around the FireStick website. Do any of you think that the RG8X cable (instead of a RG58 cable) may cause some of my HIGH SWR? I bought it so I could route it down the stake hole by taking the FME end off.

I doubt the higher quality coax would inherently be a problem, all other things being equal. Unless the process of removing / replacing the end was not done correctly.

Have you tried a magnet-mount antenna placed on the roof for comparison? I use magnet mounts exclusively but regularly remove them to avoid problems with rust, etc.
