Default Chicago Auto Show

Took the day off and took the wife unit to the Chicago Auto Show today. Since i left my trusty 396 in the other car I only had a BC330 with me.

As is my custom for these type events I left it on CloseCall Only mode while walking around. I started off with hits on 468.8375 (D224) in use by units monitoring the pedestrian traffic in the main hallway, mostly concerned with the escalators.

I got a lot of hits on 453.850 (114.8) which is apparently the main Ops channel these days for McCormick Place.

Aside from the many wireless mics and IFB systems in use by the exhibitors, mostly in the 520-550 MHz. range, and FRS users there was little else heard. A few MURS channels were used by exhibitors and Connies Pizza was using a UHF interstitial which I forgot to write down. (They have a dozen booths and were busy coordinating delivery of beverages and pizza to them from the main facility downstairs).

Nothing really fascinating about the show, but I did get a few ideas for my next car. The most important consideration of course was where the radios would go and how many could I fit in. Looks like the Honda Pilot leads the pack these days...

Good work! Although I don't live near Chicago, frequencies used at concerts, sports events, convention centers, etc. interest me. Close Call is definitely a nice feature on scanners.
