Killing Crime
Anyone notice the lack of reported shootings by the local media since the arrival of the International Olympic Committee? Just as many on the other blogs reported would happen...did. I know on Zone 6 yesterday, I heard at least 2 confirmed before I called it a night at 2330 Hrs. The spin machine is in full force. Maybe we can help...had a walk in shooting at Holy Cross Hospital last night, for a male who was shot in the leg around the corner. Then they had 2 shot at 77th Kedzie...but 1 offender dropped his buddy off and drove away, so he must not have ben shot that bad...LOL.

While I understand the lack of a contract stirs the pot, other than that, what's with the dislike of the Oympics?

I was wondering the same thing. I was thinking werinshades is maybe a CPD officer? In my case, I'm in the construction industry. I am hoping we get the games to free up some jobs. I think werinshades is right about the lack of media coverage on shootings / violent crimes while the IOC has been in town.

The Olympics not coming to Chicago would derail the DaMayoral corruption train. He has painted the city with this brush that everything is wonderful, all peace and love, and it's soooo safe. Could you imagine the fiasco with foreign competitors meeting up with some of our most wonderful citizens of our local "community organizations". If he can get control of the spiralling crime that happens (but not reported) daily, then i'm all for it. 14 year olds getting shot has become a way of life and normal then causing any concern. Chicago is out of control, and is in no shape to host an Olympic event. The bull**it machine is in full force, and until this pattern changes (Mayoral change), then i'm all for it.

Well, I'd respectfully disagree that it would derail the corruption train.
Let's face it, corruption has been a best practice in this area (county, city, state) for longer than most of us have been alive. Not getting the Olympics wouldn't change that.
Look, anyone sitting in the mayor's seat would be a bit daft not to pursue the event. Done right (not a stretch in my mind), it brings money and prestige to the city. To do that, you don't go out of your way to trumpet crimes and other bad events.
I would be pretty interested in seeing if there are any stats that show violent crime is on a sustained uptick in Chicago - and if it's in the usual places or if it's spreading.
Other than that, I sympathize with not having a contract, but this sort of action is fairly close to cutting your nose off to spite your face.

Shades is not a CPD officer, but IS a city employee. He has been around a long time and knows alot. Sit back and you'll see how often he's right about things.

Hey Shades....
On top of all those shootings you listed, I heard one on Zone 12 to which 25 AND 15 responded. It was yet another shooting. A kid either in a park or near a school. I heard while listening that the scene turned into a crime lab job, and all I could do was hang my head for another life lost. This happened on the 3rd of April.
I'm considering buying a Chalky shirt and a pair of Chalkie shoes.

Well thanks for the kudos there, but at times i'm off on my predictions. I wasn't listening to the shooting you mentioned, but read about it, and yes you were right. Here's another prediction...Friday..high in the 70's.Keep your ears open Friday to Saturday morning. Gang tensions are extra high, as all the recent arrests of high ranking gang members leave the turfs open for the fight. This isn't concentrated on one gang, but their's a groundswell of activity that hasn't been reported...numerous aggravated batteries have not been reported in the press for obvious reasons. Keep your ear for "event numbers for street stops" as that should give you an indication of where the concentration is. Going to be a wild one Thursday-Friday Saturday as the weather heats up...

I see it's already started. 14 year old shot around 6:30 last night, another one shot in Pilsen early this morning. it's already 60 degrees at 10 in the morning, so it's starting. Chalkie's been visiting the northern burbs too....he get's around.

22 shot in 24 hours!
WBBM 780 - Chicago's #1 source for local news, traffic and weather - Weekend Crime, Violence Updates
Hmm...are we really ready to host those Olympics when the mayhem on a warm day can't be controlled?
22 people shot...in 24 hours,,,majority of them in seperate incidents. The exception is the 9 shot in the car wash. It's been some wild listening. Friday, it's supposed to be 80 degrees....dare I predict?.

4 shot at 63rd Ellis
I was listening to this one last night...1 went to Stroger and later died, 1 was grazed , 2 were driven to University of Chicago Hospital, then were later transferred to Stroger.
On a frequency note, someone posted the University of Chicago Police on a new frequency, which I can confirm is false. 464.525 (CTCSS 131.8) is still their primary frequency.

Another Chalkie Victim
http://www.chicagobreakingnews.com/2...h-deering.html
18 year old girl "walking with two male companions at 1:15 AM", took a bullet to the back. Let's see, what's wrong here...walking the streets at 1:15 in the morning? Nawww...normal behavior..

It's going to be a hellish summer, I predict. Too many people with too little productive things to do.
