Default "Unusal" Traffic

Did anyone else hear the Milwaukee incident carried on WISPERN relayed on the SC-21 District Chicago ISPERN talk group last night?

And I continue to hear the McHenry County dispatch talk group on the Lake County simulcast site (108).

Finally, LOTS of Michigan traffic coming across the lake yesterday on the North Cook County site (115). I never hear any SC-21 traffic at all on this site. Would NAC decoding capability on the 996T help with this?

While the McHenry County site rejects affiliations from non McHenry county units (as reported by Pro96Com) it appears that they can affiliate to Lake County sites on their talkgroups. This might change if there are overcrowding down the line.

The NAC decoding wouldn't help here. Check to be sure that you have the proper Control Channels programmed in your radio. Site 115 is using 866.9375 most of the time, if your radio is seeing Michigan traffic chances are you have the wrong control channel for 115. 115 could also use 854.9875 or 866.4375 if 866.9375 gets hosed, but that is going to be pretty rare.

Default Hmm...

Thanks, Rich. I have 866.9375 (and the rest of the database freqs) programmed for SC-21 Site 115, and Free-Scan shows that "CC Only" is set. Somehow, I can't find that option on the 996T menu choices. Anyway, as I said, I have never heard a single authentic Site 115 transmission in over a year but western Michigan booms in 5x5 depending upon the weather.

Love a mystery....

Well, I am hearing all sorts of District 15, District 2, District Chicago and other state traffic right now and all along, so there is something wrong on your end.

What control channels do you have programmed in that System?

Also, try deleting all the freqs EXCEPT 866.9375, see then if you get a bunch of local traffic.

Default The Fundamental Problem

Hi Rich,
The fact is - my scanners [895XLT and 996T] only have their original equipment indoor telescoping whip antennas (antennae?) to work with. Neither will even break squelch when I enter 866.9375. It's not a real problem, though: I get all of the D 2, Chicago, and 15 traffic 5x5 on the Lake County simulcast site 108. I love hearing D 2 mobile units in DeKalb!
