Default today's fire - new to Chicago monitoring

happened to be in the midway cell phone lot listening to a multiple alarm structure fire earlier today. I have all of the rr listed cfd channels programmed into my bcd396xt, but didn't hear any "fireground" type comms that I am used to. mostly just battalion chief updating the office on major progress on dispatch channel. am I missing something? also, ems units were instructed to switch to another channel on arrival and I didn't hear anything from them on the ems command freq as listed in the database. are these simplex channels and I was too far away?

Probably just a little too far away, plus some overload from Midway where most of the UHF communications (outside of VHF-AM) is used. I'm also assuming you had the Digital channels programmedcorrectly , and the Fireground and EMS Command is UHF analog. Fireground is Simplex and short ranged, but should have heard some activity as alot of the apparatus were communicating. EMS was using EMS OPS. I submitted all the frequencies to the database, and should be 100% correct if programmed correctly.

****Side Note...I noticed after checking the databse, that a submission changed ADMIN to EMS Command 2 (Not correctly labeled). I did submit the change to the database to put it back as I had originally submitted it. My submissions were taken directly from a CFD radio, and frequencies were obtained via Close Call and this was the final codeplug. Maybe the author of the submission can contact me via Private message prior to submitting inaccurate information next time...thanks****

thanks. I triple checked the frequencies I programmed and all are correct. I was in my car with the stock antenna so high probability i was out of simplex range. will keep listening. thanks.

Default ems command

Shades
What is the official word on ems command? Use simplex channel or the wideband 462.975? I've notice that there using more now after the fire on 111st in late November.

When 2-1-3 took command of the fire, the announcement told command officers to switch to channel 5.
I don't see a "channel 5" listed.
