Default Update from LCSO

The following information update has been made for: Boyd Gulch Fire

A fire is currently buring in Boyd Gulch on the south side of lower Poudre Canyon. The area ia approximately 5-6 miles up from Ted's Place and roughly half way between Gateway Park and the Grey Rock Mtn.trail head. It is currently 5 acres but growing actively to the south - southeast. The smoke is clearly visible from the plains.
We have two SEAT aircraft (single engine air tankers) plus multiple firefighter on scene and en route. The area is not accessible for engines to participate in suppression. No firm legal description is available to me at this time but it is believed to be in section 8 of 8 north, 70 west. It will be posted here once known for sure. We also have yet to confirm public (USFS) or private ownership for sure. We have firefighters from Larimer Co. Emergency Services, Poudre Canyon and the US Forest Service working the fire now. Other crews may arrive later depending on the situation.
If you are planning on driving the Poudre this afternoon, please be aware of emergency vehicle traffic for this fire as well as for EPA personnel and cleaning crews who are working at cleaning up the five thousand gallon asphalt spill into the Poudre which occurred two days ago (this doesn't pose the danger or long term damage that that last statement seems to indicate and the situation is well under control). That scene is right off the highway 14 approximately one mile above the access into Boyd Gulch. More information on the fire when it becomes available.

The following information update has been made for: Boyd Gulch Fire

Information as of 6:20 p.m. indicates there is now a line around the fire which stands at 11 acres. We will consequently be pulling off the majority of the fire fighters tonight leaving county firefighters to do the night shift. Total compliment for tomorrow day shift will be approximately 50-55 fire fighters and additional personnel from the assigned Helitack crew. Unfortunately, circumstances have arisen which may preclude the use of the SEAT's for toomorrow. We will advise, probably tomorrow, on the situation regarding fixed wing air support.
We are probably going to experience reasonably good humidity recovery tonight after a very dry day (dew points in the 30s) and the latest fire behavior observations indicates things are already starting to lay down a bit. Good news. This will probably be the last update for this evening. More information will be provided tomorrow after the 7 a.m. briefing concludes.
