Default I-25 closed north of Ft. Collins

CSP and CDOT closed the road about 15 minutes ago. Too slippery to stand up on.

We seem to have gotten a coating of ice overnight.

Nobody knows that frontage roads are available to the public, ever been in the middle of a major highway where there is traffic backed up for miles? The adjacent frontage roads are clear. Just another wonderful demonstration of the amazing thinking power the "everyday" person has.

Sometimes it's vice versa. People escape to the frontage road only to be unable to get thru the next stopsign or traffic light on the frontage road except one by painful one. (I've seen this often enough that if I leave the slab I'll go much further inland so as to not get stuck this way) CSP also knows that people escape to the frontage road by driving over the grass. I've seen as many as 4 CSP units "servicing" those folks with tickets (down near COS).

And of course if the interstate is too slick to stand on how does that make the frontage road a good idea? Sometimes they slide off the interstate and roll down the embankment onto the frontage road. The car blocking your way then might even be upside down!

True, but for the most part(in my experience) the frontage roads are fairly clear. But I know what you are talking about.

That's a shame. Actually doesn't surprise me either. It seems every time the weather get s nasty no one knows how to drive, specifically defensively, not offensively. I'm sure you can vouch for that theory as well as I can being a scanner enthusiast.

Every time we get powder I wonder if Geico should have a mobile following the CDOT trucks.

Haha, yes, I can vouch that people can't drive period. On dry ground, but even less so on snow. That's coming from a fellow scanner enthusiast and a fellow driver. =D

And maybe you should send that recommendation into CDOT.

ALSO, this will be my first full winter that I'll have a scanner and actually know how to really use it, so I should have some fun this year. Oh, btw, don't you love this warm weather? lol. gotta love Colorado!

The weather is always odd in CO. Mild winters too. Farmers Almanac predicting not so pleasant winter though.

I say mild because what we have here (not the high country) pales in comparison to North Dakota. Lived there for three years.
