Boulder County FD? that's like 20 different departments, you mean Boulder Rural possibly?
Mutual Aid Departments now include Lyons, Big Elk Meadows, Pinewood Springs, Glen Haven, Loveland Rural, Allenspark and now Loveland downtown for a ladder truck. Also just heard another Boulder County dept responding as well.
On-scene ops channel is FERN 154.280

Right, sorry to be none-specific Jim, I didn't hear which department was dispatched, I am listening to one of the Boulder County Red-1 dispatch channels, definitely not Rural Boulder, unless they were on Red-1.
Just heard "301" arrive in Estes, anyone recognize who "301" is?

update
Have been away from scanner for about 1 hour, but did return by fire scene about 1/2 mile away and the
fire is still burning actively with 10 to 12 foot flame lengths.
This is in downtown Estes Park where numerous shops are all tied together in what is actually a
"strip mall".
Lots of smoke and ash in the air, only good thing is it is starting to rain!
updates as I hear them.

My local contacts are saying partial roof collapse now of at least part of the mall building.

A block of downtown Estes Park is in flames this morning, consuming some of the oldest buildings in the resort community.
Denise Pixler, manager of the Rocky Mountain Pharmacy in Estes Park, said that flames are shooting three to four stories high and that traffic in the town is at a standstill.
All fire and police personnel have responded.
More information will be posted as details become available.Howard Pankratz: 303-954-1939 or hpankratz@denverpost.com

Stanley may have a little smoke but it's at least a mile away.

Yeah, I can't see the hotel being in any danger. Despite it being old as sin and falling apart.
It looks like Estes may have something in common with the great London fire... Be a shame to see all those buildings destroyed. They are indeed very old.
Listening to 4037.
Hey Forever, here's how far apart. estes park - Google Maps
You can see the theater's location and the Stanley.

May have been a boost, but Loveland is volunteer as well.

Actually Loveland's 6 city houses are staffed by career firefighters, including their Truck Co.

Thanks Jim and Polter! I'm not sure a small town like that could recover from the loss of a block..

Okay, I don't want to argue semantics or anything, but curios. What's the difference? They are paid? You have to take Fire Science. Maybe that's the only common denominator.
Found my answer.
Quote:
The Loveland Fire and Rescue Department is a combination department which utilizes both career
and volunteer firefighters. Staff consists of 58 career members and a maximum of 80 volunteer members. There are three divisions within the department:
These departments are under the leadership of a
career Fire Chief. The department also receives valuable citizen input from the Fire & Rescue
Advisory Commission.

Loveland is not volunteer actually believe all 6 stations are career. Canyon FD as it's often referred or Loveland Rural remains volunteer but responses in the Drake area are strongly support by "city" units.
