U/D: SAR crews are focusing on Greenhorn Mtn, Snowslide Trail area traffic now on MAC-9 and 10.

Pueblo/Custer County U/D; L/G 4 hovering over the smoke on a 45 degree angle slope with initial ground teams only 800 yards out.

U/D: PCSO on scene of the crash site at N37.57.859 x W105.05.527, elevation 10,171ft.

Sounds like some Custer County SAR members may remain on-scene overnight but recovery will occur in the am and CSRB is being contacted to send some additional M/A resources to assist on Saturday.

Sad news to tell you. Pueblo Sheriff's Office confirms 2 dead in plane crash. A retired Pueblo Police Officer and a Pueblo County Deputy. No names will be released yet. Our crew on scene is getting you more information for the news on KRDO Newschannel 13 at 10pm.-- James Jarman

Captain Leide DeFusco
Pueblo County Sheriff's Office, Colorado
End of Watch: Friday, August 31, 2012

Captain Leide DeFusco was killed in an airplane crash as he and John Barger, a retired Pueblo Police Department captain, searched for marijuana grows in the Wet Mountains.

A narcotics task force had raided two large marijuana plantations in the area two weeks earlier and the two were searching for additional grows nearby when radio contact was lost at approximately 9:30 am.

Captain DeFusco is a 21-year veteran as a peace officer in the County of Pueblo, serving with both the Pueblo Police Department and the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office. Captain DeFusco oversees the Patrol Division, CSU-Pueblo and Narcotics Unit within the Law Enforcement Bureau. Captain DeFusco has been previously assigned as a Patrol Deputy and Police Officer, SWAT Team member, Field Training Officer, Defensive Tactics Instructor, Police Detective Corporal, Narcotics Detective, Narcotics Lieutenant and Detention Security Captain.

It really depends on the complexity of the investigation, but usually a year or so. Here's the link to the page on the NTSB site about the accident...this is where they will post updates:
