Castle Rock 2nd Alarm | 5280FIRE

01/21 ~ At 04:01 Castle Rock Firefighters were dispatched to a residential structure fire across from 4356 Bennington Avenue. Multiple 911 callers to Douglas Regional Dispatch reported flames showing, explosions and the family escaped into the backyard. That information prompted Battalion Chief 151 to strike a 2nd Alarm while enroute, bringing mutual aid from Franktown & South Metro. Engine 153 reported fire visible from 5 blocks out, secured their own water supply and sized up a 2 story wood frame fully involved on the A, B & D sides. Engine 153 quickly began exposure protection with their deck gun on the Bravo side. BC151 assumed command, E151 secured a second water supply and advanced a 2 1/2″ with M151. Engine 154 advanced a second 2 1/2″ and the fire was knocked down within 10 minutes. Castle Rock Police confirmed that all of the occupants safely evacuated and were uninjured. Companies made entry into the home for searches (which proved negative) and extensive overhaul operations. CRFD Investigators were called to the scene.

This one was a second alarm as soon as 153's turned the corner out of the station, the fire was were 153's had visual at the turn but the way the area is set up you have to go around and through a about 15-20 blocks to get there from the station. I heard the tones just when my alarm clock was going off and live three blocks from the station. They have a fast response time in this area because the station is smack dab in the middle of Founders. GREAT JOB GUYS!!!!

Wow. This one was big, and it's on my 5 a.m. commute south to north on Ridge Road toward King Soopers. Not even 9 houses away from a 2-house inferno just 2-3 months ago.

Thanks to all the fire laddies and lassies.
