Happened today at 5485 N. Yoder Road in Calhan. The man that caused it, called the fire in and when deputies arrived everyone was out their shoveling dirt to try to put the fire out.
Tri-County FD was primary and Calhan FD was M/A. It still made it up to 45 acres though.
Calhan grass fire contained, evacuations lifted | News - Home
It's pretty dry out there today. Just before this fire started, there was another one just south of Colo Springs along Hwy-115 just north of Glenrock Drive. Hwy-115 FD got lots of help from Fort Carson firefighters on that one, not because it was large, but because it was threatening buildings if they didn't put it quickly, which they did.
