An 18-year-old man was killed Tuesday after he skied into a tree at Breckenridge Ski Resort.
He was skiing very fast on Dukes Run on Peak 8, witnesses said, and was not wearing a helmet. Ski Patrol provided basic life support and took him the Breckenridge Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
The coroner said the man died from massive internal injuries from hitting the tree.
The teen arrived from North Carolina Monday with a church school group that was on a senior trip. Tuesday was the group's first day of skiing.
The teen's name has not been released pending notification of his family.
