LAKEWOOD – Crews are on the scene of an apartment fire near the Simms Landing restaurant.
Smoke is still coming through the roof of the Ridgemoor Apartments at 693 Urban Court in Lakewood. The fire started at around 8:45 p.m.
The apartment building is a three-level building with about eight units on each level.
The American Red Cross and building inspectors both responded to the scene on Friday night.
It is unclear what started the fire but witnesses told 9NEWS it was started by fireworks.
Lakewood Police have shut down several streets around the apartment complex.
The 6th Avenue frontage road is closed at Simms east to where it becomes urban court and then turns into west 7th Drive. Vivian Street is also shut down from West 7th Drive to 8th Avenue.
