JEFFERSON COUNTY – Two teens were killed early Saturday morning after the Subaru they were driving crossed into oncoming traffic and hit a Buick head-on.

Colorado State Patrol says the crash occurred on CO 93 around 6 a.m. when the two teens, who were heading southbound in the Subaru, crossed into the northbound lanes.

Troopers say the two teens in the Subaru were pronounced dead on the scene. The driver of the Buick suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Boulder Community Hospital.

CO 93 was shut down in both directions, between CO 72 and CO 128, while troopers investigate. It was not immediately clear when the highway would reopen.

State patrol is trying to determine why the Subaru crossed into oncoming traffic.

The victims' identities were not immediately released.
