Default Pro 197 + Database + Software help

Greetings.

I bought my Dad the Pro 197 Scanner recently and also purchased the USB cable. I have looked into the three software packages that most on this forum have recommended.

I want to help get my Dad up and running and would like to know the easiest / best path - software and also getting the data to download to the scanner. We live in Evergreen, Jeffco.

I am clueless. Dad has had scanners in the distant past and things have certainly changed but he is anxious to use it and I would love to get him up and running.

He is also a HAM radio operator if there are some options for input there on the scanner as well. I noticed on the box that it could pick some up?

I would appreciate any help on any recommendations from the experts on software + database purchases.

I see there are files here for premium users and didn't know if those could be used?

As I said, I am clueless and want to help Dad out.

Thanks so much for any input.

Tom

You must be a premium subscriber to radio reference in order to download info directly to your radio from the website. However, if you would like, I can send you a file to get you started. If you are interested, shoot me an email-
fabguy13@hotmail.com

I guess I should add that this file is to be used by the Win500 program, which can be found here:
Win500: PSR-500, PSR-600, PRO-106, PRO-197 Scanner Software for Data Management, Monitoring, and Control

Hope all this helps and welcome to radioreference.com!
