Pro-2096 "Motor Boating"
Hey guys I have searched and searched so know I am coming to you. I have a pro-2096 and would like anyone that has found a solution for this problem to comment on how to stop this. After some transmissions on my Douglas County feed system I have "motor boating" just after a transmission has finished and was hopping some here has solved this problem and could let me in on the fix. I have tried other forums and was unable to get a solution for this type of system.

I think that's been an issue with the Pro 96 and Pro 2096 line. I would check and be sure you have the most recent firmware for the radio installed, and if not, install it and see if that helps.

Also consider reducing the overall control channels you are using sometimes that helps.

You wouldn't happen to have the "birdies" on the same frequencies as the Douglas County System by chance?

Yes I do. Have you heard them?
Jim, I know you always preach less is more when it comes to CC I do use alternate CC and will try removing them. I was missing transmissions some time back and added them to correct this but I think I corrected this by using a better antenna.

And try scanning with just one or two sites, should be all you need to cover dougco.
It's been over a year since any metro area site has moved to there alternate CC even briefly I believe.

THANKS to all that replied. Jim, I will use Silver Heights, Franktown, Smoky Hill and West Creek CC only and see how that goes, I have seen all of them used on the feed I cover.

When I had my PRO-2096 here in S.E. Michigan, I found going back to earlier DSP firmware (1.2 I recall), helped a lot.

Since this is your feed scanner, what is your decode % on silver heights and Chevron?
If your not mobile, and only trying to monitor Douglas Co., I would only stick in 2 CC's for the feed radio, Silver Heights and Chevron.

Eric, this is how it looked.
Zap = 68-100%
Stanley Canyon = 80-102%
Franktown = 102-105%
Lookout = 48-80%
Smoky Hill = 100%
West Creek = 100%
Silver Heights = 100%
Riley Peak = 70-100%
Chevron = 38%
I live in Founders Village on the hill in Castle Rock. Have listened in today and I have no problems. I do use a RS sputnik antenna and the numbers are lower with the use of a RS discone and the RS800 duck. The sputnik pulls in Colorado Springs well on the Pro-106 thats why I use it. You are correct the 2096 is used for the feed.

Just try programming in Silver Heights and see if that helps with your problem.

I used Silver Heights, Franktown and Smoky Hill and this seemed to work if I only use the two I seem to lose a bunch of transmission from Castle Rock. I checked this by running the 2096 and the 106 side by side and trying deferent tower combos. I will be seeing you soon for a new 197 so I can split my feed.

I am down to one CC and will see if this helps with the noises. Eric it does hit every transmission with a conventional channel helping out Thank you.
