Post Fire Fighting Apparatus in COS

In Colorado Springs this weekend for military reunion, staying in North COS off of Briargate Parkway and
across the street are approximately 35 different pieces of equipment from up and down the front range. All of them drove under a huge American flag draped between 2 CSFD ladder trucks.

Couldn't find anything the Gazette on this.
Just thought people might like to know since there is some impressive equipment here.

Post Update

I believe this is for the "Fallen Firefighter Memorial" that has been going on all week here in COS.
The parade of equipment left here on Briargate Parkway approx 30 minutes ago, lots of equipment and
about 75 motorcycles following.
Headed down Union Blvd to Memorial Park.

Yes indeed it's the IAFF Fallen FF's Memorial.

This is an annual event, happening every September in Memorial Park. In addition to all the fire rigs both front line and antiques, there were 350 motorcycles in the parade. The procession always starts at the Colorado State Fallen Firefighter Memorial in Lakewood next to West Metro Headquarters and then runs to Colorado Springs with State Patrol escort. The procession reforms at Briargate and then heads down Union to the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial in Memorial Park. Colorado Springs Local No 5 is the host.
Colorado Springs, Pueblo (Local number 3) and Trinidad (Local number 6) were among the charter members of the IAFF having organized before the national union came into being.
Only one mishap this year with an Arvada Squirt breaking down on the hill up to Castle Pines.

The 28th national Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend is coming up October 2-4 at Emmitsburg, MD. There are 122 names being added this year including Terry DeVore and John Schwartz from Olney Springs, Shane Stewart from Ault-Pierce and Jerry Marais from Colorado State Forest Service. Several radio systems (permanent and temporary) will be used for the memorial. Close Call is your friend.

I was at the national memorial two weeks ago, the 20th anniversary week (9-10-88) of the LODD of Capt. John Hager from Castlewood (South Metro). Everything was being cleaned up and new engraved bricks were being added for next month's memorial services.

The 40' high "To Lift a Nation" FDNY statue is still in place across the courtyard from the National Memorial. I believe the Securities and Exchange Commission "owns" it until $425,000 can be raised.

The official count was closer to 800 bikes, which threw the event off by about 30 minutes (the organizers figured on 600).
A personal friend and co-worker of mine was added to the wall this year.
