Exclamation Sheridan FD & PD Moving Communications

Effective the first week of October, Sheridan Police will be dispatched by Arapahoe County Sheriff. It's not clear if they'll remain on SPD TG's or ACSO Primary.

Sheridan Fire will now be dispatched by the Denver Fire Department. SFD's TG will be hard patched with a DFD Incident or Event Channel. SFD will be staying on DTRS for now and will still use current auto/mutual aid agreements.

As of today at 10:00 Sheridan Communications is closing it's doors. Sheridan Fire will be dispatched by Denver Fire through the DFD Vocal Alarm. SFD will operate on their own channel, their state DTR TG will be hard patched with a DFD TG, not sure which one right now.

Sheridan Police will keep their existing channels as Car to Car / Tactical. Primary dispatch will be done by Arapahoe County Sheriff on ACSO 1.

So Eric what happened to the Sheridan dispatchers? Did they make the move too? Or did they loose their jobs?

I'm shocked that DFD would hard patch the DIA Primary Ops channel to Sheridan FD's TG. Expect to hear loud and clear DIA incidents over DTR. It will be interesting when Sheridan has a fire and DIA has a major incident at the same time.

Charles, my understanding is the Sheridan Dispatchers were laid off with no severance.

Heard the announcement on the Sheridan PD channel. It was pretty sad to listen to.

At the time of this post the Den PS system patch map shows:

12-002 patched to 06-037
12-004 patched to 06-121
12-005 patched to 06-030 (DIA DFD-1)

First two look unique while the DIA DFD-1 Patch moved to a higher patch group when they are usually on 12-002.

Today SFD is no longer patched to DFD District 8. I'm not sure what DFD TG they're on now.

As far as I know, they were never patched. They have DFD radios in their rigs so there is no need to patch. They have microwave at the firehouse for vocalarm notification and status reporting such as mark out for responding rigs.

Is that Station 28 that's not too far away and there almost completely surround by DFD Dist so I would predict SFD one station just becomes DFD in the future much like Glendale and others, dispatch is just the beginning from the Sheridan FF's I am talking too.

Actually Sheridan's primary Fire TG was patched with DFD District 8 for atleast the first 48 hours. SFD does have DFD radios but none of Sheridan's auto/mutual aid does. With that in mind there has to be a way for DFD Dispatch to hear Sheridan's operations if they involve other departments. I'm not sure why District 8 was chosen initially but that decision was made by DFD Dispatch.

Unless DFD is monitoring a DTR portable, I would guess there's still a patch somewhere.

Which TG and radio were you hearing the SFD patch on? 06-030 (792) or 12-002 (1538), 12-004 (1540) or 12-005 (1541)?

As mentioned in my earlier post they moved some of the "hard patch" talkgroups this week.

If they patch any DTRS into DFD groups the Den firemen will realize how crappy those patches are.

Could be a good thing

I think they are the 200 units.

I have been hearing DFD dispatchers talking to SFD on their main channel. I don't know if there is a patch or if they have some sort of hard connection to DTR or if they just have a DTR radio. They seem to sound ok on the SFD channel.

Maybe they are going to just switch to Denver radios, just taking a while?

I doubt it... At least for now... DFD was going to take over Sheridan FD (Which has been in the works for several months) but the cost factor killed it... Then Sheridan offered to pay DFD for dispatching... So, Denver is obviously making money off this deal, just like Arapahoe is off of the PD side...

As you may or may not be aware, Every Sunday, around 8am, DFD does a ID check with every portable and piece of equipment in the department and it usually is on Red SE, but, this past weekend was the first time on DFD Fire 3, so, I'm guessing that, someone cried that DFD was doing it on RED SE every Sunday and no one else wanted to hear it... Rightfully so...

We'll see what this Sunday holds... To me, it makes more sense to move 52's to DFD Channel 1 like all the others and eliminate some of the confusion.
