Default Denver 2010 proposed budget for radios and EEB

From the proposed Denver 2010 budget, September Book:

For radio replacement program, recommended for 2010 $0.
For Electronic Engineering Bureau personnel, recommend reduction from 20 authorized positions to 16 for 2010.
An increase of $330,000 in supplies and materials to maintain Safety's Mobile Data Terminals and city-wide radios which will not be replaced in 2010 due to budget considerations.

Maybe they should melt down some of the Webb "Art" and sell it for scrap, starting with that cyber horse out at DIA..

Denver's Public Art Program was established in 1988 as an Executive Order under Mayor Federico Peņa.
It was later enacted as an ordinance voted in by the city council.

The PS system is Pro-Voice capable with full time Pro-Voice Talkgroups on it.

The big question is whether or not patrol radios have the PV option already in them.

I am under the impression that the media access radios Sprint/Nextel replaced due to rebanding are ESK and PV enabled. I'm sure someone with one will correct me if that is incorrect.

I know for a fact that none of the media access radios had either ESK or PV as paid for by Sprint had those options, the options had to be paid for and then installed by EEB if authorized by "da chief" personally.
Since some found that option onorous, they went another way,or just sold the radios since the GRE/RS scanners could be had cheaper than paying for PV. A lot of the mobiles were traded 1 for 3 GRE's.

See attachment for a scan of what features the portables had when first received. (Sorry had to shrink so much to fit attachment rules)

Thanks for setting me straight.

Not much of a technical trade up though a 7100 is nicer than a PCS.

Same BS with getting authorized by those in power granting access like it was in the 90's.
