Default Getting started in Longmont Area

Greetings.

I've been using a Uniden BC296D to monitor interesting traffic in the area with a few freq's I entered manually like Longmont PD, Boulder Dispatch PF/FDD among others.

I'm sure there is a PC application out there that should be able to d/l the updated freqs and load them into my scanner. Wondering if anyone could suggest a good application to do this? I have an APCO card in the scanner.

Also with Longmont PD upgrading their system as I've read will I still be able to pick them up?

Thanks!

Sorry akuter Freescan does NOT support the OP's BC296D scanner.

For notbeinfringed

Butel's ARC250 is what you want for your 296D scanner.

Uniden BC250/296/785/796 Software

I do not believe the software supports the RadioReference import feature though check with Butel on this.

At the moment it's not clear if the Longmont Groups will be present on the 800 side of the Mead site until they actually start using them. If they are you will be able to monitor Longmont on your 296D.

So what would be the next step in handheld scanners if they are not present on the 800 side? the 396?

Thank you for all the replies.

The 396t or XT are the one you want, or if you want rad shack or GRE: the Pro-106, or GRE-500.

The Colorado DTRS is a mixed 700/800 mhz digital trunking system. With the models listed above, you will be able to listen to anything that isn't encrypted, which encryption in few and far between on the DTRS.

Question Longmont Area

Has anyone heard anymore what is going on with DTRS for Longmont/Boulder? Or when they will be switching over?

No timetable that I'm aware of for Longmont. The Sunset site has not been on all that long and it would make sense that there is on going coverage testing.

The City of Boulder and Boulder county S.O. are NOT getting on the DTR bandwagon.
