Are these still in use? Do I put them in the VHF or DTRS? What are they used for? Just working on updating my scanner.

These are conventional and are used for mutual aid with users who may not have DTRS radios and are responding to an incident. In a way you can think of them kind of like FERN or NLEEC, but not used nearly as much. They may also be used on occasion for other events or purposes. That list is as complete as we know it to be. There could be other repeaters out there's as well so if you do scan them and become aware of a repeater in an area where we do not have one, let us know!

The listed channels are all repeaters. 8CALL90D, 8TAC91D, 8TAC92D, 8TAC93D and 8TAC94D are the simplex channels. .
These and the STAC channels are the only ones EDACs users can go to outside of their radio footprint.

They certainly are used frequently in the NYC Metro Area. They are repeated and simplex and are mostly used through gateways. They all have repeated pairs associated with them.

Commonly reffered to as I-Call, the official NPSTC Nomenclature is 8CALL/8TAC. The "D" trailer indicates Direct or simplex.

They are w-band, and use CTCSS 156.7 on both sides.

Each FCC Region has different uses for them, but they are National Interop channels, available to any public safety agency without requiring an FCC License (Simplex Only, 5w max).

Similar Channels are available in the same format for VHF and UHF High.

Also, wasnt away that 700MHz interops had been designated. Another interesting point is the Network Access Codes for digital systems.

Add to the list in case the DTR system goes into the twilight zone they are used as a last resort backup.

West Metro has used the I-TAC repeaters in the past during site problems with the Lakewood EDACS system.

Same goes for Aurora before their single site EDACS backup system was implemented.

So these only work with the EDACS system? What would that be Denver PD, DIA PD, Lakewood & Aurora? Any others?

no, these are conventional, not trunked. They arent assigned to any system, which is the purpose behind interops.

West Metro uses 8TAC91D on occasion for building coverage in high rises.

I have heard CDOT on them (simplex) on remote road projects in the mountains. In addition, I have heard them used "un-officially" by other agencies and "government co-ops".

I keep them under my Statewide & Interop key.
