Default amazing reception

This amazed so i had to share with folks that would understand my excitement. I was camping in the Sangre De Cristo mountains above Westcliffe, and of course i had my pro-96 with me. I was trying to get a weather report. I figured that i might be lucky to hear the weather service in pueblo, but was a little dissapointed when i couldn't. I moved a few feet and started recieving the national weather service in Dodge City, KS!! I couldn't believe, even as the crow flies that is probably a good 350 to 400 miles away. Of course the DTR reception as well as other VHF frequencies was very good. What a hobby we all enjoy!

You do not need a scanner or the weather channel to know it is a lot cooler in the high county than it is in KS. Trust me you really don't.

I wish I could LOL.
