I hope you can return it, that scanner does not monitor CSPD which on a digital trunked system.

The Radio Shack Pro-404 is a 200-channel, non-trunking, analog scanner manufactured by GRE.

Here are a few of your choices at least from Radio Shack. If you don't want to buy programing software, cable, and learn how to program the state system I would suggest the Uniden Home Patrol as it's pre-programed.

PRO-106 39,000-Channel Digital Handheld Scanner Model: PRO-106 | Catalog #: 20-106 $399.99

PRO-197 39,000-Channel Digital Desktop Scanner Model: PRO-197 | Catalog #: 20-197 $399.99

GRE® PSR500 Handheld Digital APCO-25 Triple-Trunking Scanner Model: PSR500 | Catalog #: 55039259 $529.99

GRE® PSR600 Digital APCO-25 Triple-Trunking Base/Mobile Model: PSR600 | Catalog #: 55039260 $529.99

Uniden® HomePatrol-1 Simple Program Scanner Model: HOMEPATROL-1 | Catalog #: 55042768 $639.99

The GRE PSR-500 & -600, as well as the Home Patrol, are available from dealers other than Radio Shack for substantially less.
The 500 & 600 are both currently $395.00 at ScannerMaster, and their price for the Home Patrol 1 is $489.95.
Remember that the GRE scanners come with the pc cable and ac adapter. Of the two Radio Shack scanners, only the base/mobile Pro-197 includes the wall wart; the handheld Pro-106 does not. The pc interface cable is an extra cost accessory for both the 106 & 197.

ScannerMaster (and a number of other online dealers) also has the PSR-800, as well as the Uniden BCD396XT (handheld) and BCD996XT (base/mobile).

what I would do (and am doing eventualy despite the fact I have all my existing equipment) is to find the best price on the PSR 800 and go for that one! Just plug in the SD Card and off you go. I want one for the simple fact I won't have to be switching the "V Scan" files in my pro 106 when I need to get ot a different set of channels for areas I don't freqent. I don't know how hard it is to update the card or to make your own tweaks to get it to run the way you want with software since I don't have one, but I am guessing it would be much easier than one of the other more complicated radios.

The Pro-106's are $399.99, I wouldn't consider that "substantially less."

However, my vote is for you to get a Pro-106 or 197. There are several members located near you to help you get the radio programed.
