"A new computer system that links every law enforcement agency in Larimer County, with the exception of Loveland police, has been worth the $3.7 million price tag, officials said one year after the system launched.
The Tiburon system allows all agencies on the system to access records from other agencies as well as the Larimer County Detention Center.
It also allows dispatchers to view calls and locations of officers from other agencies. The cost of the system was shared, with Fort Collins police contributing $2 million, Larimer County, $1 million, and the Larimer Emergency Telephone Authority picking up the remaining $700,000. The cost was broken down based on how much each agency uses the system.
Sharing information among law enforcement, officials said, makes it easier to track crime patterns and, in some cases, suspect movement."
