Today, Driving along CO-71 between New Raymer and Kimball, NE, I found this tower.
There were no affiliations while I listened (about 20 minutes).

That's looking a lot like Grover which has been off-the-air for a few months. Good catch.

Actually this is the signon for the Grover site which is about 2 months late but Weld Agencies are definitely happy to have the coverage up there.

The equipment at the Grover site was originally at the Windsor site before they took it down last year.

I thought somehow I was picking it up great from Parker, 'till I realized it's the same CC as Smokey Hill. Guess I'll have to make a road trip.

That's the Grover Site alright. The `official' `on the air', AFAIK, was last Thursday, 28, Oct 05, afternoon when the R&B people started using it. (If you were lucky and caught the `Motor' group's signon that morning it was announced that it was expected to be on the air, `officially?' according to the way the announcement was phrased, that afternoon and they were asking any of the `operators' who might be out that way to see if it helped get rid of their dead spots. (If one was even `luckier?' and stuck around after the `Motor' group's signoff Wednesday evening and caught several of the `supers' / `leads' / `rovers' discussing it Thurday's announcement would have given you a bit of a chuckle. {GRIN!} Seems that a couple of them had already been out that way and had been `playing' a bit with it and were fairly pleased with the results.]) I'll bet that quite a few of the other users here in the County that have to be out that way are *very* happy, too. Now *if* they can get on with doing something about the rest of the congestion and `dead spots'... {WAN GRIN!}

We had a little spot of `excitement' at our place Monday morning when we were burning down some old unused sheds. We had already called the Platteville FD and had let them know that we were planning the burn and shortly after we had started someone driving by called it in. As a matter of course Platteville had to send out a unit to check and after ascertaining that ours was the only fire in the area dropped by to see how things were going. {GRIN!} (Thanks, guys! We appreciated seeing you!) Anyway... It took them three - four tries to notify dispatch because they kept getting `busied'. From the comment one fire fighter made I take it that this isn't all that unusual, though not extremely common either, of a happening in this area. Hopefully, like I said previously, they'll get to cracking about doing something about this soon. It didn't seem that it was all *that* busy at the time from what I was able to hear on my scanner.
