I've searched for info on frequencies the jets you see flying around denver metro are using (I'm assuming they are from buckley), but I can't find a list.

More specifically, is there anything MilAir in the area that a pro-96 owner can listen to?

Thanks,
c

There are lots of good milair opportunities around the Denver area. I'll get you a better listing if you want it, but I'm in a bit of a rush for now.
Try:
138.275 Air-Air
138.425 " "
141.625
142.4
227.3
251.075 Denver Center
282.8
282.2
289.6, 281.675 BKF Twr - 121.0 VHF
275.8 BKF ground - 121.6 VHF
307.3
372.2

make sure you are in AM mode and you should have some luck with these. I just heard some activity on the tower freqs just about an hour ago (2000 UTC)

One important note; you won't be able to hear the UHF milair band on the PRO96 right out of the box. You must use Win96 to do this. Ful information on this can be found on Don Starr's website

Since the radio wasn't designed for this band, it is possible the radio won't work very well here. Many folk I know have had good success with this, tho, particularly with a good antenna.

On an unlocked 96 it takes about six microvolts to break squelch at 300 mHz and 2.5 microvolts at 350 mHz. Sensitivity gets better as you approach either end of the band, but the 96 really isn't a very good UHF milair radio. You may hear the aircraft around Denver, but don't expect to hear them when they are working the MOAs.

I'm feeling slightly inadequate for some reason . . . .
That just about covers my listing of comms. You might have an extra, oh, three thousand or so that I didn't have. I'll have to see if I have anything you don't, but it's doubtful. :)
Thanks! Great list.

Edit: Hey, Erik, do you happen to have this list in an Excel format, or something I can import into Excel? That would make a comparison much, much easier. If you do have such a file, send it to pilotmills@gmail.com
You da' Man!

Wow,

Thanks guys, this is quite overwhelming. So knowing nothing about this (I have unlocked my pro-96).

I'm assuming, to listen for jets and helicopters in the metro area I should enter anything with:
BKF, DIA, D CTR?

Or where would I go to learn about the TLA's?

Thanks again, this is great info, more than I'll know what to do with.
