Talking Castle Rock Help?

Hi all my name is Tim, I am very new to this although I am not completely tech stupid, I am in Castle Rock, Colorado and have tried to read everything that has been posted concerning Douglas county and there DTRS system and trunking but I am still having trouble hearing much! Is there maybe somewhere near me that I could take my Uniden BCT8 (with 800MHz TrunkTracker3) and pay someone to get it optimally programed? If the BCT8 will even work for the DTRS system? Or is there someone near me who might be interested in helping out a NEWBIE for a price? I live right by the Castle Rock.

I am pretty sure that scanner won't pick up the state DTR system. However, there is probably a lot of good stuff it can pick up in the area. Hopefully someone who knows your area will chime in. Good luck.

Angry

Tom welcome to the list and we look forward to helping but your current scanner choice is not compatible with the State of Colorado DTRS system.

Welcome to the forums,

There's actually quite a few people who scan in Castle Rock (I recently moved from that location). Sadly your scanner will not handle Digital (P25) audio as the above have said.

Scanners that will handle the system (and are not cheap) include:
RadioShack Pro-106
RadioShack Pro-197
RadioShack Pro-18
GRE PSR-500
GRE PSR-600
GRE PSR-800
Uniden BCD396XT
Uniden BCD996XT
and a few older models.

If it's any help to you, you can still listen to Douglas County Fire Dispatch as they dispatch for the 150s (Castle Rock Fire Department). They simulcast their main dispatch on 151.115 MHz analog. With that setup, however, you will not be able to hear any of the operation channels that they tend to switch to.

If you just purchased your scanner, I would recommend you return it and get a scanner that can handle DTRS if it it within your price range.

I actually just did a craigslist barter for an acoustic guitar I did not play on craigslist, so no huge loss. Maybe I can find someone on RR.com who might be interested in bartering for one of the above models? I will keep checking back. Thanks for all the help guys.
