Has there been any activity yet?

Possibly; we are narrowing down some new id's in the 1700 range.

If they plan to open in 3 weeks I would say action will be starting soon.

I think 1786 is official. Voice on this one today-"Dispatch, how do you copy squirt 38". Definitely part of the new South Metro system.

As far as I can tell Parker Dispatch took over Lone Tree PD on or around 12/7. Hearing "LT" designators and 104XXX radio ID's. No new positive TG's as of yet, but still think that 1868 and 1869 are going to be part of this somehow.

Yes, 1786 is a done deal, sounds like this will be the "Dispatch" TG.

I've also got 108544 and 108572 as new radio ID's on 1786. Should be some action soon!
Have you noticed that some of the new radio ID's will log on with the 1786 TG, and then switch over to Main on 1053?

edit: There are also LOTS of new radio ID's popping up on either the 1786 or the 1053 TG's, so there is certainly some serious prep work getting done before the switch.

More Information

Here are the channel designations that are going to be programmed into their radios. Unfortunately I don't have any talkgroups to add. "Metcom 1" will be their primary dispatch channel. "Metcom 3" will be their tactical dispatch channel.

This is how all South Metro radios will be programmed:

A1 - MCOM1
A2 - MCTAC 2
A3 - MCOM3
A4 - MCTAC 4
A5 - MCOM5
A6 - MCTAC 6
A7 - MCOM7
A8 - MCTAC 8
A9 - MCOM9
A10 - MOB RPT
A11 - OPS 11DC
A12 - FG 12 DC
A13 - OPS 13
A14 - FG 14 DC
A15 - DISP 1
A16 - MCOM1
B1 - DEC
B2 - MAC 1
B3 - MAC 2
B4 - MAC 3
B5 - MAC 4
B6 - MAC 5
B7 - MAC 9
B8 - MAC 13
B9 - MAC 17
B10 - MAC 21
B11 - I-CALL C
B12 - I-TAC 1 C
B13 - I-TAC 2 C
B14 - I-TAC 3 C
B15 - I-TAC 4 C
B16 - S-TAC 5 C
C1 - CONTROL1
C2 - LOPS 2
C3 - LFG 3 DC
C4 - LOPS 4
C5 - LFG 5 DC
C6 - LFD ADMIN
C7 - ?
C8 - ?
C9 - ?
C10 - ?
C11 - HELP
C12 - SAC 12
C13 - TRN 13
C14 - TRN 14
C15 - DC WX
C16 - ADM 16
D1 - SWEDISH
D2 - LITTLETON HOSP

The C bank for Castle Rock Fire radios will look like this:
C1 - CONTROL1
C2 - LOPS 2
C3 - LFG 3 DC
C4 - LOPS 4
C5 - LFG 5 DC
C6 - CRPD1
C7 - CRPD2
C8 - CRPD3
C9 - CW OPS
C10 - CTY SVCS
C11 - HELP
C12 - SAC 12
C13 - TRN 13
C14 - TRN 14
C15 - DC WX
C16 - ADM 16

Also, the squirts are now going to be called engines and all of their aerials are now going to be called ladders. Everything else will remain unchanged (engines will still be engines, etc.).

As far as Douglas County Fire radios go, it looks like banks D and E will be identical to South Metro's. I've never heard of banks D and E on Motorola radios, but I guess there are such banks based on what I've gathered. Also, channel A15 on DC Fire radios will be MCOM3 and channel A16 will be MCOM1. What was Admin 16 on channel A16 is being moved to channel C16. Channel C16 Admin 16 will be like a car-to-car channel except for Fire units of course. Channel A2 DISP 2 will be an administrative channel between units and dispatch.

Interesting new mutual communications this morning between Parker Fire and South Metro for an air alert at Centennial Airport. Using "B-12" for a fire ground, "I-TAC-1"

The banks might actually be Zones...We've got 8 that are numbered...they may just be putting letters to them.

When fire agencies in the Southern metro area switched to DTRS several years ago the XTS3000 was the portable model available. Most like the Model I with no display and a 16 position channel knob on top. In any case there is a switch on the left side of the radio as you face it with posistions A B & C. Hence the Alpha then numeric channel designations.

Troop is on the right track it does sound like they are using letters for each zone for newer radios. Keeps everything consistent for the channel designations.

Just an update from the last few days,

-Units have been going out of service for "radio programing"
-A dispatcher was radio testing today on 1786
-Some new TG's appear to be a part of this:
1046
1047
1048

Getting close

Missed the first part of it, but there was a voice test on 1786 about 2 mins ago (0916 MST). Ended with "Refer to pager message for incident type". Kind of an automated robot sounding voice. Came off the GWV tower, but not the Aurora site, even though Pro96Com shows two radios affiliated to that TG. Interesting.
