Arrow Eight agencies considering combining dispatch centers

Mission Critical Communications has entered into a $78,625 contract to examine communication centers run by Wheat Ridge, Lakewood, Arvada FD & PD, Golden, West Metro, Evergreen and Jefferson County.

Everyone agrees we don't need 10 PSAP's in Jefferson County but the decision is not clear if they only need one or two.

Report from the consulting group is expected in April.

I'm assuming the 8 count is considering the Arvada Fire and Police are two different agencies.

You are correct. Arvada Police is a city agency, Arvada Fire is a special district as is Wheat Ridge Fire. They, like Lakewood Fire, predated the cities that formed around them. The fire district boundaries do not coincide with the city boundaries at all.
