Avalanche in Clear Creek County near the Torey's Peak trailhead (Bakerville exit). I don't know if someone is buried or injured.

CLEAR CREEK COUNTY - Rescue crews on site of a backcountry avalanche recovered the body of an 18-yaer-old boy Thursday afternoon.

Bill Barwick, with the Alpine Rescue Team, says the slide happened around 12:30 p.m. two miles up from the Grays & Torreys trailhead. That's south of I-70 near Bakerville.

The victim's compaion was partially buried, then dug himself out and went for help. The pair had been snowshoeing in the area.

Avalanche conditions in the area range from moderate to considerable, according to the Colorado Avalanche Information Center. "The wind and the snow together have made conditions get a little worse," says Barwick.
