Damn, I guess she didn't want to go to jail. I can't believe people take the risk for the small amount they get in a bank holdup - the penalties are stiff. They should consider getting a job instead.

Bank Robbery and Officer Involved Shooting
14000 Block of North 83rd Street, Boulder County
January 13, 2006

On Thursday afternoon, January 12, 2006, at 1:30 PM, the Chase Bank, located at 1905 West Eisenhower in Loveland, Colorado was robbed by a lone female. The woman told bank employees that she was armed, and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Witnesses from the bank followed the suspect, reporting information by calling 911 from their cellular telephones. That information was then broadcast to officers who were responding to the bank robbery.

The suspect’s car was soon spotted near the intersection of Larimer County Road 8E and 23 by a uniformed Larimer County Sheriff’s Deputy, and a uniformed Berthoud Police Officer. The suspect fled, and was pursued by the deputy and officer, who were each driving marked police cars. A Larimer County Sheriff’s Investigator, who was driving an unmarked police car, joined them in the pursuit.

The pursuit continued through southern Larimer County and into northern Boulder County where the suspect stopped her car in the 14000 block of North 83rd Street. She then exited her car and leveled a firearm at the pursuing officers. Both of the Larimer County Sheriff’s deputies fired at the suspect, striking her. Emergency medical services were requested to respond, however the suspect died at the scene. The initial investigation revealed that the weapon she displayed was a replica firearm.

The identity of the woman is not being released at this time, pending notification of next of kin. The Boulder County Coroner has agreed to transfer the responsibility to determine the cause and manner of death to the Larimer County Coroner. The Larimer County Coroner’s Office will release any identification, once they have made the appropriate notifications. Inquires as to her identification should be directed to the Larimer County Coroner.

Larimer County Sheriff, James Alderden, asked that the Boulder County Shoot Team take the lead in conducting the investigation into circumstance surrounding the shooting.

The Shoot Team members include investigators from various Boulder County law enforcement agencies. The team is normally used to investigate the circumstances surrounding the use of deadly force by officers. In this instance, the Shoot Team will conduct their investigation with the assistance of, and in conjunction with Larimer County investigators.

Once the investigation is completed, the Shoot Team report will be forwarded to the Boulder County District Attorney, and Sheriff Alderden for their review and action. Inquiries about the sheriff deputies who were involved in the shooting should be directed to the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office.

The investigation of the initial Bank robbery is being conducted by the Loveland Police Department. Inquires about the details, and status of that investigation should be directed to the Loveland Police Department.
