Sounds as if fire is mostly knocked down, standing Loveland and Wellington down. Asking Wellington 1 to mann Station 12. I don't know how they are going to respond to a call though, if needed, they don't have DTRS?

Believe Wellington does have DTRS have heard them talking to PVH amb before on there.

Pretty funny command reported loss stopped and then interior sector reported flames showing from side B.

Yea this is kind of funny. Support didn't seem to have a handle on where it was flaming up.

Wellington as of this time has no DTRS radios. Way to expensive for a volunteer dept. until they get a government grant or something else. You were probably hearing a borrowed PFA radio. Fort Collins sure seems to have a lot of radios to loan out to other surrounding agencies during large fires or emergencies. They should just donate or sell some cheap to Wellington FPD.

That's what grants are available for and Colorado State EMS grant application is due by February 15th. 80+% of EMS grant requests in 2005 got funded and communications is an important area.

I told one of the higher ranking firefighters about this and they said that they already knew about this grant. I think that they don't really care about DTRS and think it is a waste for their small dept. This is kind of true, their call area is rather large but with two repeaters, all the VHF radios they would ever need and Fort Collins Dispatch willing to keep VHF dispatch console for them, they just would rather use the money elsewhere.
