Saturday, March 4th - Wildfire On Storm Mountain...
A large, rapidly growing wildfire is currently burning near Combat Rock on Storm Mountain. As of 12PM noon, the fire was estimated at 5 to 6 acres in size.
Resident have set up a line of volunteers near the top of the switchbacks. Official fires crews were not yet on the blaze. Air support is being called in to help battle the blaze. On fire crew is on scene and working a line along the right flank of the fire. A staging area is reportedly being set up at CO 43 and FDR 128, possibly to be moved officially to the fish hatchery.
Larimer County Sheriff's are stopping residents from going up the mountain to release their animals or gather belongings, infuriating many local residents. Sheriff's Deputy Shene Stevenson (badge# 97019) actually refused to let a mother go the her five children on Storm Mountain. The mother has vowing a lawsuit holding officer Stevenson and the Larimer County Sheriff's Department fully accountable for the action and for the children's welfare.
High and gusty winds are feeding the fire which is traveling to the North-Northeast. This blaze is taking an almost identical path as the Bobcat Gulch fire which burned over 11,000 back in 2000.
Residents are advised to prepare for possible evacuations in the Cedar Park and Cedar Springs area. Official fire info will be posted on this site as it becomes available.
