Youth Was In Colorado With Nebraska Church
A young boy with a church group from Central City, Neb., was killed snowboarding near Loveland Basin Ski Area, authorities said.
The boy and two friends took a lift to the top of a mountain Friday, then climbed to a ridge, planning to slide through out-of-bounds terrain from the ski area to nearby Loveland Valley Ski area, the Clear Creek County Sheriff's Office said.
Two of the boys, who ended up on a highway, notified authorities.
The Loveland Ski Patrol retraced their tracks and found the missing boy dead around 6:45 p.m, the sheriff's office said.
Officials currently believe that the boy fell off a cliff and ended up trapped under the snow, suffocating.
The three boys were boarding in an area posted as dangerous.
