More like an update I suppose. While it doesn't add multi site trunking, it does supposedly add improvement to the <lack of> Auto Gain Control, as well as adressing the EDACS performance issues I and many other have experienced. If the updates work as many hope they will, then Uniden has taken a huge step to making the BCD396T the best HT around. I'm certainly looking forward to being able to use it with confidence on the state system after I apply the update. According to the 396 product manager, it should be available inside of "a few weeks".
In my view, though, they will not give us multi site tracking in any future firmware update which is unfortunate as that would leave no doubt as to what model could claim to be King of the HTs.
