Question

Does anyone know where I can get a USB adapter for the cord that runs from Win96 to the scanner? I got a new puter yesterday and it doesn't have a serial port. Thanks for any help.

Nevermind, just talked to the local RS store and they just got them in yesterday.

Just a hint in using the Radio Shack serial to USB Cable. After installation you may find that when you plug in the cable you continue to get the "new hardware detected" message and windows will search for the driver files even though you already installed them. I got around this by copying the driver files from the installation CD to a subfolder in MY DOCUMENTS. If Windows prompts a driver search I manually select the appropriate subfolder containing the file. This avoids having to reach for the CD each time it happens. Have heard of others encountering this also. The problem stopped a few weeks later. I use the serial to USB cable for Uniden scanners with a Dell laptop and a Dell desktop without problems now.
