Boulder's FD is working mut aid on a residential incident (rear garage, fire began there). The odd thing is the Billings Ave shows in Internet mapping as above Lafayette and west of Erie, but they're requesting Hwy 119 to be shut down...?

119th Street NE of Layafette.

It's only an out building fire but of course Mtn View Command is going crazy, maybe because they did not get there bond approved and less stations will be staffed full time in the future.

Now a hazmat in Boulder and a motorcycle down in the South St Vrain as well, pretty decent action but still can't believe they all use 4 digit radio numbers makes things very confusing and you don't here many other depts sticking with that.

I just saw that, 119th St. They, in being busy working it, made it seem to me they meant Hwy 119...which caused the "huh?" on my part.

Man Berthoud, Boulder Rural, Lafayette, Rocky Mtn Fire Authority, Mtn View all call and even Frederick / Firestone for an engine.

Command sounds excited.

As Paged

(CBS4) ERIE, Colo. A garage fire at a home in Boulder County near Erie pushed a small fire department to its limits on Sunday evening.

Firefighters found flames had fully engulfed the garage when they arrived at the home.

It took them nearly an hour to get the fire out because the Mountain View Fire Department doesn't have enough manpower. The department has two firefighters on each engine. That doesn't meet national regulations.

Nearby departments sent help to Mountain View Sunday evening. That did take time and put the firefighting crews at risk.

"We feel that we could've done a lot more with proper staffing," Jesse Hodgeson of the Mountain View Fire Department said. "It's hard to try to save people's property as well as keep ourselves and everybody else safe."

Firefighters hope the blaze Sunday night sparks interest needed from the community to make their department safe and effective.

A mill levy to increase funding for Mountain View was recently turned down by voters.
