BOULDER, Colo. -- A female bicyclist was struck and killed in a crash that involved another cyclist, two semitrailers and two other vehicles, the Colorado State Patrol said.
Two other people have non-life-threatening injuries, the CSP said.
The accident occurred at about 10 a.m. on the railroad tracks at 63rd Street and the Diagonal Highway in Boulder County.
According to early reports, it appears that one of the trucks was trying to pass a vehicle and started a chain reaction of events, the CSP said. The bicycle and most of the vehicles were southbound on 63rd Street when a big rig headed northbound veered out of his lane and struck the cyclist and other vehicles.
The identities of the victims have not been released.
The roadway will be closed for several hours as troopers investigate. Only one lane of northbound Highway 119 is open. Troopers suggest anyone traveling between Boulder and Longmont to take an alternate route.
